Why Red Clay exists.
I started Red Clay Electric because I kept seeing the same thing – and it bothered me every single time.
Electricians cutting corners on jobs they’d never have to live with. People doing the work just because they know how to, and it’s a quick way to make a buck. Homeowners trusting someone with the most important investment of their lives and getting work that was barely good enough — or worse: work that looked fine – until it wasn’t.
I understood the trade well enough to know what right looked like. And I understood that the gap between right and barely acceptable is almost invisible to the people who hire us — because it’s hidden inside their walls. That gap is exactly why Red Clay exists.
Here’s what I’ve learned after twelve years of doing this work: most homeowners don’t fully understand what the job requires. That’s not a criticism — it’s just true. They know what they want the finished space to feel like. They don’t always know what it takes behind the walls to get there.
That’s not their responsibility to figure out. It’s mine. My job is to listen carefully, ask the right questions, explain what I’m seeing, and then build it the right way — whether they can see it or not. The work behind the wall matters just as much as what’s in front of it.
I named this company Red Clay because it’s rooted in this place. Greenville is where I grew up, and where I started this company. It’s where I’m building my reputation, and where I want to keep doing the best work of my career. The homes being built here deserve that level of care. And even more importantly – it’s what the people living inside of them deserve.
